Raynham Mass..Ginny Pit Tour

Tour of the process the Greyhounds go through at the Track.

This is where we entered to start the tour

Each trainer picks up their key for the hound

The holding kennels for the hounds 1 hour prior to the race

This is where the hounds are checked over, for health, tattoo's weight...they have all the race information for the day here.

Onto the scales...hounds can be 1.5 pounds up or below their set weight...if they are 2 pounds over or under the trainer can be fined.

Racing Silks

This where the hound gets their silks on.

Hound is lead to the starting boxes on the track

The cool down area after the race.

This scale is used for the first school race a hound does...they weight the hound, then the trainer can choose the " set" weight they want for this particular hound, it can be a pound up or a pound down from the weight shown. So if the trainer thinks this dog will be filling out a bit more or is a bit over where they think the hound should be they will chose this way. This then becomes the Set weight which will be used prior to all races on the other scale that was shown in the holding room. The trainer can have the set weight changed at a later date but they must request it like 5 days prior to a race.

This is where they test the winner and one random hound.

Hounds are cooled down and walked after each race...

The race information for the day is all here.
